Vari Racing was founded in 1995 by Vanni Casasola and his son, Rinaldo Casasola, after identifying a gap in the local market for high-quality performance brake components.
At a time when suitable brake discs were difficult to source, they began producing their own castings — prioritising quality, consistency and performance.
This hands-on, problem-solving approach laid the foundation for what Vari Racing would become. As demand grew, the business expanded into performance and racing applications.
By 2002, Vari Racing was manufacturing braking systems for both road and track use. More than a decade ago, the company began producing its own calipers — allowing full control over design, tolerances and performance.
In 2016, the next generation joined the business when Massimo Desfontaines — Vanni's grandson and Rinaldo's nephew — became part of the company.
Combining the strong manufacturing foundation built by Vanni and Rinaldo with a renewed focus on growth, branding and customer expansion, the business entered a new phase of development.
From that point onward, Vari Racing tripled in size, significantly expanded its customer base and began exporting products beyond South Africa. The company strengthened its presence across performance street, motorsport and specialist racing markets, while continuing to invest in local manufacturing, CNC technology and product development.
Looking towards the future, Vari Racing remains committed to constantly developing new products, improving manufacturing processes and setting the industry standard for locally produced performance braking systems. With ongoing investment in innovation, research and precision engineering, the company continues to push the limits of braking performance for both road and race applications.
Today, Vari Racing remains a family-run, proudly South African manufacturer, supplying braking systems that compete confidently on both local and international stages — while staying true to the values the company was built on: quality, reliability and performance without compromise.
